Claude Adams 
 
Adams was a member of an infantry unit which successfully invaded France by storming the Normandy coast and establishing the beach head.  He was killed June 12, 1944 while engaging in offensive action against the enemy.  He was enlisted in the army in April 1942 and was 31 years old.  Pvt. Adams was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Adams of Ravenden.  He was married to Sylvia Adams of Des Moines, Iowa. He had three brothers:  Martin Adams of Detroit, Stayton Adams of Blytheville and Alvin Adams of St. Louis.  He was the nephew of Charlie Ratliff of Lawrence County.
